American Airlines Flight Status Notifications

… I think are great.

It’s nice to be alerted when any unexpected changes occur in one’s itinerary while traveling.

However, when one receives FIVE notifications over an EIGHT hour period…

and,

It’s no longer a surprise that the flight is delayed so that the departure time is later than the original arrival time…

Then, you know that you have a problem.

Yes, in the last notification, the departure time is 10:05PM when the flight was supposed to arrive at 10:00PM .

I just checked yesterday’s flight (7/21/06) as well… which wasn’t delayed as much but still arrived an hour later than scheduled at 11:01PM. I wonder what percentage of the time this flight leaves and arrives on time. But thankfully, I wasn’t on that flight.

And so, I went through Puerto Rico again and landed around 11PM at JFK rather than 2AM even with the hour layover. Maybe I should just schedule to fly through PR from the start! =)
